Expectations
Students should be in class everyday and actively participating in all lessons. When absent for illness, or any other circumstance, they are responsible for the work missed. Behavior that fosters a positive teaching and learning environment is expected so that all students may benefit from the experience.
Resources
Our materials consist of Current Health II, and Choices, all of which are magazines that we receive on a monthly basis. We also use current newspaper articles, various other Health magazines, videos and films. In addition, we receive up to date information from the American Heart Association, and various other Health related organizations.
Classroom Rules to Follow
1. Be to class on time and in your appropriate seat.
2. Before the class begins; pencils should be sharpened, and you may get a drink if needed or use the bathroom.
3. If you are absent, you are responsible for all work missed.
4. Respect the rights of others.
5. Have a positive attitude towards your fellow classmates.
6. No chewing gum or eating in class.
Consequences
1. In class warning – teacher will ask you to improve the inappropriate behavior.
2. After class warning – teacher will have a private meeting with you at the end of the period to resolve the problem with no further action.
3. Phone call home – after the third infraction, your teacher will call home and discuss the situation with a parent or guardian and determine if any other consequences are necessary.
4. Detention – at this time your teacher will inform the office of the student’s prior offenses. The student will stay after on a prearranged day until the time designated by the teacher. Homework or a book should be brought to the detention.
5. Office Referral – if the behavior continues the student will be referred and recommended to receive an office detention.
